The short answer
Google Classroom supports scheduling individual posts in advance. It does not support recurring or repeating assignments natively. If you want the same assignment to publish automatically on a weekly or termly basis, you need a scheduling tool.
What Google Classroom does support
Google Classroom has scheduling built in for individual posts. When you create an assignment, question, material, or announcement, you can choose “Schedule” instead of “Post” and set a specific date and time.
That scheduled post will publish once at the time you set. It will not repeat.
This is useful for preparing one-off upcoming posts — such as an assessment posted the evening before the lesson, or an announcement sent at the start of the school week. It covers single events, not patterns.
What Google Classroom does not support
There is no built-in option in Google Classroom to:
- Repeat an assignment on a daily or weekly basis
- Create a recurring series of posts with a shared pattern
- Set a recurrence rule on an assignment (like a calendar event)
- Automatically assign recurring due dates to each post in a series
Every post in a recurring sequence has to be created and scheduled individually, which means teachers managing weekly homework routines or termly revision plans often spend significant time re-posting the same content.
Why this matters for teachers
A weekly homework routine, a recurring platform reminder, or a termly revision sequence follows a predictable pattern. The content and timing are the same each occurrence, or nearly so. Rebuilding that pattern manually every week takes time that adds up across a term.
The absence of native recurrence in Google Classroom means teachers either accept that manual overhead or use a tool designed to handle the repeat loop.
